The Highs and Lows of  Top Tennis Professionals https://rafaelnadalfans.com/2018/04/22/rafael-nadal-wins-his-11th-monte-carlo-masters-after-beating-kei-nishikori-photos/comment-page-1/ Rafael Nadal claimed his 11th win in Monte Carlo with his bewildering game play. He solidified his status as ranked no.1 in the world by going 6-3 6-2 against Kei Nishikori, the rank 22 pro, in 93 minutes. This also means that Nadal is the firm favourite to win at the 2018 French Open for the 11th time, which is especially the case given that rival and world no.2 Roger Federer would not be participating in the clay court seasion.  Nadal's performance for the Barcelona Open has also been impressive, given it was immediately after the Monte Carlo Masters. He eased his way into the Barcelona quarter-finals and extended his record to 40 consecutive sets won on clay by beating fellow Spaniard Guillermo Garcia Lopez 6-1 6-3, and is facing Martin Klizan from Slovakia.  https://rafaelnadalf

UFC Fight Night 128 Recap

Image
UFC fight night 128 ended on the weekend with Kevin Lee victorious over Edson Barboza, via doctors stoppage in round 5. Kevin Lee dominated the fight, securing takedowns and vicious ground strikes throughout the fight. With this win, he's put himself back into title shot contention. If he were to fight for the title with the current champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, the clash of wrestling styles would be interesting, and many fans have been clamouring for the match up for a while. The fight had one moment where Barboza was able to stun Lee badly, putting him on rollerskates. mmafury.com Lee was able to recover quickly, but it was definitely an exciting moment! Anything can happen in a fight. Frankie Edgar defeated Cub Swanson, edging out all 3 rounds for a unanimous decision. He puts himself back into the title shot frame after a surprise knockout loss only a month ago.

Premier League Match-Day 35 Recap

Match Day 35: The end of era From: www.skynews.com Before the weekend of football had started possibly the biggest news story of the week had broken, that being the retirement of Arsene Wenger who has manged Arsenal for an incredible 22 years in an era where managers are sacked left right and centre, to manage a team for that long and leave on your own terms is a remarkable achievement in itself let alone everything else he has done for not only Arsenal FC but English football in general and will forever be remembered for his contributions. With the FA Cup semi-finals being played over the weekend there were mid-week games played to compensate with Tottenham dropping points away to Brighton, whilst Manchester United came away with a 2-0 win over Bournemouth and with Liverpool conceding a late goal courtesy of a Saloman Rondon header  away at West Brom, it is likely that the two Manchester teams will occupy the two top spots come seasons end. As the champions have alr

2018 Monte-Carlo Masters – Singles The tension is ballooning as we will soon witness the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, the current ATP ranked 1 player and 1st seed, go head to head against the ATP ranked 5 player and 4th seed, Grigor Dimitrov. There is a lot riding on this for both players. Nadal is the two-time defending champion, however, as he is only 100 points ahead of the rank 2 player, Roger Federer, if Nadal fails to defend his title he will drop to rank 2 with Federer taking his place as rank 1. However, Dimitrov is also looking to win this tournament and work his place up to rank 3 again, which he achieved in November of last year                                              VS                                           www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/sports/30343641 https://www.gettyimages.com.au/detail/news-photo/bulgarias-grigor-dimitrov-plays-a-forehand-return-to-news-photo/948989552#/bulgarias-grigor-dimitrov-plays-a-forehand-return-to-belgiums-david

Premier league Match-day 34 Recap

Image
Match-day 34: The Champions decided From Manchester City Facebook Page After a disappointing result last week to local rivals Manchester United going down 3-2 in a match that could have made them champions with a win, they have only had to wait a week to be crowned champions. With Man city coming away with solid 3-1 away win against Tottenham, the same could not be sad for Man Utd with a very disappointing loss to last place West Brom, at the conclusion of this result it was therefore mathematically impossible for Manchester City to be caught by anyone and were then crowned deserved champions.  All is not over however in this seasons premier league as there is still a matter European Spots up for grabs and of course the dreaded relegation drop is still undecided.  Some big results this week included Southampton who are looking at the drop losing 3-2 to Chelsea after being 2-0 up. Crystal Palace also took another step in the right direction after a convincing win against

Introducing the Volleyball Nations League

Image
Moving forward towards a new chapter of competitive Volleyball.  (Jason Cho) Just like how FIFA and the football community hosts the World Cup, the administrating body for volleyball, FIVB, has hosted tournaments at a global scale including the Volleyball World League and the World Grand Prix. Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the FIVB's operations, starting from 2018 a new tournament has been hyped up... .                   http:/www.fivb.com It'll be interesting to see what direction FIVB wants to take the league into. Volleyball has historically been a very strong spectator sport with fans from many countries. The league consists of both men's and women's competitions and comprises of 12 core countries and 4 contenders. A total of 130 games will be organised for play with each team playing 15 matches. Personally, I want a more fan-centric model mirroring the NBA and MLB. This would definitely improve our engagement as fans with players and te

MMA blog: Barboza vs. Lee

Image
from dummysports.com Couple of big fights in the UFC this weekend! Edson Barboza and Kevin Lee face off in the main event, Frankie Edgar is fighting Cub Swanson, in a rematch for the co-main event. Both of these fights have possible title shot contender-ship for the winners (lightweight title, and featherweight title, respectively). I see Kevin Lee being able to wrestle Barboza to the mat and grind out the victory, possible finishing the fight with a rear naked choke. Frankie and Cub have fought before, with Frankie dominating the fight start to finish, and I see this fight going the same way. That said, Frankie was brutally knocked out only a few weeks ago, so it will be interesting to see if that will have any effect on the fight this time around. It's going to be an exciting night of fights and I'm anxious to see who wins.
